Marin GOP Endorsements

On September 25, 2025, the Marin GOP endorsed Sonja Shaw for State Superintendent of Public Instruction. Of the 17 candidates who have filed for the 2026 election, she is the only conservative in the race.

On October 30, 2025, the Marin GOP endorsed three additional candidates for state office.

For State Insurance Commissioner, we heard from the only two Republican candidates in a crowded field that also includes seven Democrats, one No Party Preference, and one Peace and Freedom candidate.

The first to speak, Stacy Korsgaden, joined via Zoom and emphasized her 35 years of experience in California’s insurance industry. The second candidate, Robert Howell, appeared in person. Howell made the “top two” in the 2022 race for the same office and noted how his prior ballot statement had proven prescient. Both were outstanding candidates, but in the end, the Marin GOP endorsed Robert Howell for State Insurance Commissioner.

The next two races were State Senate District 2 and State Assembly District 12.

Of the four candidates for State Senate, Tief Gibbs is the only Republican to declare for that office. Among the seven candidates for State Assembly, Eryn Cervantes is the sole Republican contender. This presents a strong opportunity for both to make the “top two,” as the Democratic vote will be split in each race.

Because of her fearless advocacy for conservative values, her ability to clearly articulate those principles, and her strong support in fire-ravaged northern counties, the Marin GOP endorsed Tief Gibbs for State Senate District 2.

Although Eryn Cervantes ran for the same Assembly seat in 2022 without support from the Sonoma and Marin GOP committees, she still outperformed their endorsed candidate in Sonoma County. With the Marin GOP’s endorsement and her background in law enforcement, she has an excellent chance to make the “top two” and advance to the November 2026 ballot. The Marin GOP proudly endorses Eryn Cervantes for State Assembly District 12.

The Marin GOP will consider additional endorsements for state offices at its December 4, 2025 meeting (a special date due to the holidays) and again at its January 29, 2026 regular meeting.
