The Marin County Republican Party has a strategy to endorse candidates early. They focus especially on good candidates who are the only Republicans that have declared. During their December 4, 2025, regular meeting, the party endorsed another candidate for statewide office. They also endorsed another two candidates for local office.
Herb Morgan received the endorsement for State Controller. He promises to ensure that only those funds approved by the legislature will be paid to the intended recipients. He will use AI to identify and eliminate suspicious payments. This includes payments to counties and cities that refuse to provide his office with daily transactions. In his own words he will be a “trans” controller. He plans to transform the department. His aim is to ensure taxpayer funds are properly used. He will also require transparency from the numerous recipients of state taxpayer money. After a brief presentation to the committee by Zoom, he was unanimously endorsed.
The committee then turned their focus to two local races. They considered Mark Galperin for Marin County Board of Supervisors District 1. They also looked at Chris Carpiniello for Marin County Board of Supervisors District 5. Both were endorsed with the unanimous support of their fellow members of the Marin County Republican Central Committee.
These follow the September 25, 2025 endorsement of Sonja Shaw for State Superintendent of Public Instruction. There are also the October 30, 2025 endorsements. They include Robert Howell for State Insurance Commissioner, Tief Gibbs for State Senate, and Eryn Cervantes for State Assembly.
The Marin County Republican Party will endorse other state and local candidates in its January 2026 meeting. It will also endorse candidates in its February 2026 regular meeting.
